For Your Eyes Only

“But as it is written: ‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.’”
1 Corinthians 2:9 (NKJV)

As I was waiting for my turn to have my eyes checked, the thought came to my mind, how wonderfully our eyes are designed. As I was mulling over the miracles of eyes, several scriptures came rushing into my mind, opening my eyes to see the power of Jesus to give sight to the blind. Many are recorded in the Bible for us to look at them. The man who was born blind from birth who was healed by Christ said, “Whether He is a sinner or not I do not know. One thing I know: that though I was blind, now I see” (John 9:25).

We were all spiritually blind, but God has enlightened our eyes to see the truth revealed in the holy scriptures. Yes! I was spiritually blind from birth but now, through the eyes of faith as the light of God has shone in my heart, I have the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ (2 Corinthians 4:6). Like Moses having seen Him who is invisible (Hebrews 11:27).

It is very comforting to know that God is watching over us to protect us. “For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose heart is loyal to Him” (2 Chronicles 16:9). Also let us see in the book of Proverbs “For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and He ponders all his paths” (5:21). “The eyes of the Lord are in every place, Keeping watch on the evil and the good” (15:3). No one can escape the eyes of God!

God is the Divine Designer of our eyes. At times our eyes need to be checked by the opticians for a better vision. Thanks be to God who has given us sight to see His amazing creation all around us. Much more, let us thank God for enlightening our spiritual eyes to see His glorious truth through the spirit of wisdom and revelation to know what is the hope of His calling, and what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints (Ephesians 1:17-18).

When you are waiting for your turn to have your eyes checked, ponder over the miracle of your sight. Close the eyes and you see nothing. Open the eyes and you see things all around you. Marvel of marvels, “in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet…the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed” (1 Corinthians 15:52). And we will see Jesus in His glory with our OWN EYES, for we shall be as He is (1 John 3:1-3). Praise God Almighty and give Him thanks for all His wonders.

Father in heaven, thank you for creating us fearfully and wonderfully in your image. One day we will see your Son Jesus as He is. For this I praise you in the name of our Saviour Jesus.
