Death Is Not The End

“For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 6:23 (NKJV)

Salvation is an entirely free gift of God. Ephesians 2:8-9 tells us, “by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Is there life after death? Most of mankind has no clue why they are born and why they die. The ultimate purpose of life is that we glorify God and enjoy His presence forever. God is love and He created us for His glory. But Satan has deceived the whole world and blinded the minds of those who are perishing, those who have not received the love of the truth that they can be saved. (2 Corinthians 4:3-4, 6 and 2 Thessalonians 2:9-12). It is the truth that makes us free from all the deceptions of the devil. For God’s word is the truth as recorded in John 8: 32 and 17:17. The Word of God reveals that there is life after death and this future existence will be so glorious and superior, of which we cannot imagine nor perceive its glory in our mortal existence.

In God’s word death is compared to a long sleep (John 11:11-14). In death our thoughts perish—the dead know nothing (Ecclesiastes 9:5). But death is not the end. Those who believe in Christ shall be raised and have everlasting life, for Christ Jesus is the resurrection and the life, as He Himself said in John 11:25. We must not despair, but can have full assurance of the promise in 2 Corinthians 5:17-21, that anyone who is in Christ is a new creation in Him. A position that is achieved through a reconciliation to God by the death of His Son. In fact, John 5:24 says we have eternal life if we believe the word of God, “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who hears My word and believes in Him who sent Me has everlasting life, and shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life.”

Jesus asked Martha in John 11, “Do you believe Me?” Her answer was, “Yes Lord, I believe that anyone who believes in You shall live.” What about me? Do I believe in Jesus? We can say, “Yes Lord, I believe in You, that there is life after death, and You will transform my lowly body conformed in Your likeness for I know I will see You in Your glory.” (excerpt from Philippians 3:20-21).

Death is not the end. Job asked, “If a man dies, shall he live again?” And answers himself in 19:25-26, “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and He shall stand at last on the earth; and after my skin is destroyed, this I know, that in my flesh I shall see God.” This is our Hope.

Prayer
Father of Glory, I thank you for your words of hope and assurance of eternal life. I praise and thank you through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen
