Answered Prayer, part 2
In Jesus’ Name

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Philippians 4:6 (NIVUK)

In part one of this study about answered prayer, we looked at a very important principle, that of asking according to God’s will.

A second important principle to answered prayer is to ask in Jesus’ name: “And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it” (John 14:13-14). That is an amazing promise from the mouth of Jesus Christ. He is able to carry out the promise because all power and authority has been invested in him (Matthew 28:18).

What about situations where God’s will is unknown. A marriage partner? A new home? A new job, etc? The biblical answer is to ask God for the wisdom that you need (James 1:5). An excellent example is the request of the Apostle Paul in Ephesians 1:17, “that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation, so that you may know him better.”

There may be times when we are tempted to give up praying. Resist the temptation and keep on praying because God will never give up on us. As another writer on this website wrote—Use the acronym, P.U.S.H—Pray Until Something Happens. God will respond to our prayers. “Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved”. (Acts 4:12).

Prayer
Father in heaven, please direct my life, guide and lead me in the way that you want me to go. Help me not to give up, and I ask for this wisdom and guidance in your name.
Amen
