I’ve Started…So I’ll Finish!

“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ”
Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)

This verse reminds me of Magnus Magnusson, the original chairman of Mastermind. When the beeper sounded at the end of the round he would say, “I’ve started, so I’ll finish”.

For this is what God declares of His work in us: what He started he will finish. We can be confident that God will complete His work in us.

In this life we tend to be the ones who ask the questions, looking to God for the answers. Sometimes He appears to give us a “pass” on a question, only for the answer to come at a later time.

God is perfect, with unending patience. No amount of questions will annoy Him. He asks us to trust Him, even if we don’t get the answer we want.

Sometimes God turns the tables and asks us questions! Timidly, we may also answer with a “pass”, but God really does want to know what we think.

In all of this, what God wishes us to see is his active, present and transforming presence in our lives. We are not orphans, abandoned to despair. Instead, we are His workmanship being fashioned for not just this life, but also the next.

Dear Father, please open my eyes to the work that You are performing in my life.  Whether I am going through good times or bad, help me to trust in You
and your plan for my life.
