Are We Proclaiming The Praises Of God Almighty?

“But you are a chosen generation ,a royal priesthood ,a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvellous light:”
1 Peter 2:9 (NKJV)

Why praise God?. Good question. Our God is worthy of praise. Angels in heaven praise Him day and night. A true Christian should praise Him for Who He is and what He has done for all mankind. I may ask, “Is there anything that God has not done for us?”

Personally I cringe before God for not praising Him for all the precious blessing He has lavished on me. Shame on us if we do not praise God profusely and all the time, because He loads us daily with benefits. Psalm 68:19-20 says, “Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation! Our God is the God of salvation; And to God the Lord belong escapes from death.” King David was full of praises for God and would praise Him more and more as we read in Psalm 71:14, “But I will hope continually, And praise You more and more.”

Recently I saw a documentary on the life of a very well known and famous Bollywood actress. For many, she is a goddess of beauty. Everyone invited to the programme lavished praises for her talents and how she captured the hearts of people of India and abroad. No mention of the Giver of talent and beauty. Humans will praise humans but we are to praise God who created us in His image and likeness. When we read psalms, they are full of praises. Read Psalms from 145 to 150 and they remind us what praises mean to God.  Psalm 50:23 says, “Whoever offers praise glorifies Me; And to him who orders his conduct aright I will show the salvation of God.”

Let us look at two or three scriptures that give examples of praise:
Psalm 145:2-3, “Every day I will bless You, and I will praise Your name forever and ever. Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised ; and His greatness is unsearchable.”
Psalm 146:1-2, “Praise the Lord! Praise the Lord, O my soul! While I live I will praise the Lord; I will sing praises to my God while I have my being,”
Psalm 147:1, “Praise the Lord! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for it is pleasant, and praise is good.”
And one more—Psalm 150:1, “Praise the Lord! Praise God in His sanctuary ; praise Him in His mighty firmament!”

As in Hebrews 13:15, “Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name.”

Prayer
Father in heaven, You are worthy of praise and honour. I thank You and love You.
Amen
