When Everything Seems Down, Look Up!

“‘Why are you cast down, O my soul? And why are you disquieted within me? Hope you in God; for I shall yet praise Him, who is the help of my countenance and my God.”
Psalm 42:11 (NKJV)

The restrictions placed upon us over the past few months, will have lasting effects upon each of us physically and mentally to one degree or another. For those who already suffer from anxiety, obsessive disorders, for the vulnerable and those who have underlying medical conditions, these can be very worrying times.

King David, (a man after God’s own heart) had times when he was distressed and feared for his life, but he never stayed down, he always sought God, seeing Him as his shepherd, strength, refuge and salvation. Psalm 9:9-10 (NIV) tells us “The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know your name trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.”

God is our Father, the self-existent and eternal God who is love, the perfect love which casts out fear. Jesus, the Prince of Peace, gives us His peace through the Holy Spirit, and as we cast all our cares upon Him, He takes our burdens upon Himself and gives us rest. Let us therefore have a conversation with God, speaking to Him in every situation, giving thanks; and in petition sharing our needs with Him who loves and cares for us.

Prayer
Thank you, heavenly Father, that we can talk to you at any time, anywhere, about anything, and that you comfort us with your love, which is perfect and unconditional.
Amen
