Meeting The Lord In The Clouds

“For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord will by no means precede those who are asleep. For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of an archangel, and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will Rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the Clouds to Meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord.”
1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 (NKJV)

Most of you may have probably had the opportunity and privilege to travel by air, rising above the clouds as the huge aeroplane with powerful engines flies over the canopy of the clouds. It is a thrilling experience to be soaring in the clouds as the metal bird reaches the sky above. Every time I am up there my thoughts resonate with the head scripture, as I long to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in the clouds in the resurrection at His return. It will be such a grand spectacle that no one can describe in words or imagine—myriads of people from all over the world who have died in Christ and are alive at His advent will rise to meet Him in the clouds soaring like an eagle, for we all will be changed miraculously to incorruptible and immortal bodies (1 Corinthians 15:50-52). We think of this as we enter the Advent period that not only celebrates Jesus’ first coming as a baby but his second future coming as King of Kings

In the Old Testament God used clouds as a symbol of His Presence (Deuteronomy 31:15). He led Israel out of Egypt to the promised land by the pillar of cloud during the day and pillar of fire by night (Exodus 13:21-22), and through the wilderness by His cloud over the Tabernacle (Numbers 9:18). That Spiritual Rock that led Israel out of Egypt was Christ (1 Corinthians 10:1-4).

The New Testament speaks of Jesus Christ being taken up into the clouds in Acts 1:9-11 and then as He went into the clouds, so He will come again (Matthew 24:30 and Revelation 1:7). No greater event will be witnessed by the world than to see the saints rising to meet the Lord in the clouds. It cannot be repeated. It will be a momentous time because the Holy Spirit will lift us up by His mighty power. So when you look up and see the clouds, let it remind you of the coming of the Lord in the Clouds when those in Christ will be rising up to meet Him in the clouds. Let us look forward in anticipation to the reality of this glorious resurrection event and comfort one another with these words.

Prayer
Our Father in Heaven, hallowed be Your name. Please send our Saviour quickly. I pray and ask this in Jesus name.
Amen
